When life takes a left turn . . .

Hello, let me give you a brief pre-history of starting Pastime Workshop. Back in 2015 at age 60, I was laid off from my job as a computer & network technician. After two years of looking, I was unable to find work and wanted to fill my time with something to keep me busy.

I had always had a passion for woodworking. A friend of mine got me a short-term temporary position and I saved money back to buy a few pieces of woodworking equipment. In early 2017 I bought a table saw, bandsaw and drill press. Then one of life’s setbacks happened, my mother passed.

Skipping ahead. In mid 2018 I received my inheritance and my wife agreed I could build a shop. In the summer of 2018, we started digging a trench, by hand mind you, to bury the utilities. Then I got my building permit and started construction in November of that year. More digging and a huge mess was made to prepare the ground and pour a whole lot of concrete.

I built the shop all through 2019 and was ready to move in and start working in the shop March of 2020. I thought I was now retired and could just enjoy the shop. Making some Youtube videos and just enjoying the shop and retirement. Then I was informed I had to make my own money to support my woodworking habit.

Welcome Youtube channel name now a business name of Pastime Workshop. My plan is to follow my same plan except now I must make some money. On the website I will show off the projects, have links to the related videos and sell many of the project I make in the shop.

I hope you will join me on this journey and even help me see where it all takes me. This is completely different from anything else I’ve done in the past. So please, join me on my journey, be a customer once in awhile and maybe hit the donation button from time to time to help me out with the expenses.

Thank you,
